Would you benefit from:

  • Leaders or managers making long term impacts?

  • A leadership team that is cohesive?

  • Leaders upholding agreed expectations?

  • Performance processes being goal specific with ongoing review, leading to long term professional growth from staff?

Are you looking for assistance in developing new teachers?

Instructional Coaching

I work one-to-one with the teacher, to observe practice and to support reflection and professional conversation. The aim is to build a partnership to develop evidence-based teaching practices the build long term professional growth.

I work one-to-one with the principal, to implement professional goals for leaders without compromising the relationship between the principal and the leadership team. The aim is to implement actions to address specific goals.

I work with teams to implement goals while building strong relationships. Team specific goals are evidence-based consisting of ongoing review to implement actions that ensure greatest impact.

Why instructional coaching works:

  • I build rapport quickly

  • I maintain trusting relationships

  • I set an environment that is open and honest

  • I am one step removed from the site

  • I have extensive experience working with leaders and staff

  • Clear specific goals are established, with measurable outcomes assessed through focused observations

  • Feedback is goal specific, not general

  • Collection of data to demonstrate change(s) in practice

  • Actions are agreed to, with ongoing review

  • The process gives understanding and insight

The program

  • I work one-to-one with the staff, to implement school initiatives in achievable parts, observe classroom practice and support reflection and professional conversation about practice

  • I focus on supporting the professional growth of individuals based on an identified need to improve whole school growth, e.g. whole school programs, classroom management, content enhancement, pedagogy, assessment, values, routines and more

  • I build a partnership to develop evidence-based teaching practices

The Why

  • Supports the trialing and implementation of strategies to improve practice and impact on students

  • Focuses on helping staff to learn, rather than teaching them

  • Provides opportunities to adjust practice in response to feedback based on direct observation

Goal, action and progress is fed back to leadership/manager. At the site’s request the coaching outcomes can be aligned with the site’s performance and development processes.

Your school initiatives and educational programs that your staff engage in are critical to the success of your organisation. In your staff you will have:

  • Early adopters- those that take up initiatives quickly, are on board with new programs and trialling of new strategies and processes.

  • Early majority- embrace initiatives after they have had time to trial and implement, often after observing success from early adopters.

  • Late majority- this group is more likely to resist adopting initiatives until it is widely accepted or there has been evidence of success. They typically need extra support or mentoring to implement new programs.

  • Laggards- adopt new programs last, often in a very minimalistic way or because they have to and there is no other option for them.

This is where ShaunKcoach – Instructional Coaching works with you to progress Laggards, the Late Majorities and in general those that are either lacking the skills, know how or want to adapt to new programs.
